The beaches of Colonia de Sant Jordi are, without doubt, one of Majorca’s greatest attractions. This charming town and its surroundings are home to some of the Balearic Islands’ most famous beaches. Here we reveal the best beaches in Colonia de San Jordi according to your interests.

  2. Colonia de Sant Jordi beaches to enjoy with your family.

01. Cala Galiota

A picturesque cove in the urban centre of Colonia de Sant Jordi, a favourite among locals.

Cala Galiota is just 2 minutes’ walk from our hotel, and is a favourite spot among residents of Colonia de Sant Jordi. This small, welcoming cove is the ideal place to enjoy a sunset after taking a stroll through the town, as it is found right in the urban centre. You can also enjoy views from the terrace of one of the area’s most charming restaurants: Cassai Gran Café & Restaurant.

02. Sa Bassa des Cabots

A secluded beach with wonderful views of the Cabrera archipelago.

In front of the urban centre of Colonia de Sant Jordi, you’ll also find the beach of Sa Bassa des Cabots. This is a small beach with rocky waters, which tends to not get very crowded. From the shore you can enjoy incredible views of the nearby island of Cabrera.

03. Es Port

Located near the port of Colonia, the beach of Es Port is notable for its transparent waters.

In the heart of the residential area is the small beach of Es Port, named for its proximity to the marina. A few metres from the beach, you’ll find bars and restaurants where you can enjoy delicious gastronomy, as well as different shopping options.
Despite the high number of moored boats, the water is clear and clean – ideal for kids. From the shores of Es Port you can enjoy marvellous views of the island of Cabrera, and if you want to visit it, you can take a boat from here.

04. Es Trenc

Una de las playas más espectaculares de Mallorca, un paraíso de fina arena y aguas cristalinas.

ore than 2km of fine sand form the paradise beach of Es Trenc, considered by many as the most beautiful on the whole island. Recognised as a Natural Maritime-Terrestrial Park, the natural enclave of Es Trenc is rich in biodiversity. In the area surrounding the beach there are several wetlands that are home to around 170 different bird species.
Being one of the most iconic beaches in Majorca means that it is also one of the busiest, so if you want to see it in all its splendour, we recommend going in the early hours of the morning. What’s more, it’s best to visit on days when the wind isn’t blowing from the south. This is when the turquoise waters are at their calmest – and most beautiful. One of the most Instagrammed images of Majorca is the poetics of Miquel Costa i Llobera on the bunkers of Es Trenc. And no surprise – the poet’s art describes the beauty of the place perfectly.

05. Es Marqués

A beach with turquoise waters, the ideal spot to relax and enjoy all kinds of amenities.

Playa Es Marqués, also known as Playa dels Estanys or Ses Estaques, is the area’s most popular beach. There’s a total of around 410 metres of fine sandy beach where you can enjoy plenty of facilities, including sun loungers, beach bars, showers, and more. The beach can be easily accessed by foot, by bus (there is a bus stop very close by), or by car. We recommend going early, as it is difficult to find parking in the area.

06. Es Dolç

A popular spot thanks to its natural beauty and fishermen’s cottages.

A pleasant 20-minute walk from Hotel Colonial will take you to Es Dolç beach. It’s the perfect place for snorkelling, as you’ll find a boat and a Roman galley submerged in the water. The beauty of the natural surroundings of Es Dolç is a big draw for bathers. However, you can find your own quiet spot if, once on the beach, you walk a little further away from the village. Just a few metres from the beach, you’ll find the most iconic spots in Es Dolç: small houses nestled among the rocks where fishermen from Colonia de Sant Jordi used to live.

07. Es Carbó

After a lovely excursion, there’s nothing better than enjoying the natural beauty of Es Carbó.

Es Carbó Beach is the ideal place to rest and enjoy a wonderful swim after a gorgeous 40-minute excursion (for all ages). Es Carbó is one of the municipality’s best unspoilt beaches. It’s so natural you won’t find any kind of service here, so we recommend taking a beach umbrella and a picnic with you for the day. The dunes of Es Carbó and the extensive pine forest allow you to connect with nature while you relax in this paradise.
The shallow turquoise waters of Es Carbo are perfect for snorkelling. Exploring the depths allows you to admire one of the most valuable natural jewels of the Mediterranean: the posidonia oceanica seagrass meadows.

08. Es Caragol

One of the most secluded places in Majorca, ideal for enjoying incredible views of Cabrera.

From the Ses Salines lighthouse, it’s a pleasant 30-minute excursion to the beach of Es Caragol, one of the best if you’re looking to spend a day away from the crowds.
Along with Cala en Tugores, Es Caragol is the southernmost beach in Majorca. It is a paradise of fine white sand where you can enjoy one of the best views of the Cabrera archipelago. As it is an unspoilt, isolated beach, you won’t find any kind of service or beach bar, so we recommend bringing everything you need for the day.

Type of beach: Sand

09. Cala en Tugores

A cove with rocky waters, peaceful and far from crowds.

Located in the middle of a protected natural area you’ll find Cala en Tugores, a beach characterised by shallow waters with rocks and seaweed. The waves and the geography of the area mean the shores of the beach are covered by a thick layer of posidonia seagrass, undoubtedly the iconic image of the area. After a 5km walk along the coast, passing coves such as Es Dolç and Es Carbó, you can enjoy the privacy of this natural beach, one of the furthest south on the island.

Type of beach: Sand and rocks

10. Can Curt

The waters of Can Curt are perfect for diving and relaxing near the dunes.

Can Curt is the perfect place for a beach day with privacy in Majorca. To get here, you have to walk along a path that starts at Es Dolç, for about 10 minutes. Opposite this sandy and rocky cove is the islet of the same name, Can Curt, with a seabed perfect for scuba diving. In the area you’ll see small houses where all kinds of fishing equipment is stored. These houses are known as escars. Behind the shores of Can Curt lies a dense dune system, a specially protected area due to the traces of the extinct Myotragus balearicus found here.

Type of beach: Sand and rocks
Access: Easy, by foot
Occupancy: Low
Disabled access: No

Beaches close to Colonia de Sant Jordi.

We couldn’t go without recommending Cala Marmols and Ses Covetes. Although they’re not exactly in the municipality of Colonia de Sant Jordi, they’re very close and well worth a visit.

11. Ses Covetes

A spectacular unspoilt beach with calm waters.

Ses Covetes beach is located between west Sa Ràpita and the beach of Es Trenc. This beach has calm, crystal-clear waters and is the ideal place to visit with family. It is very similar to its neighbour Es Trenc, but a bit less crowded. You can also admire amazing sunsets here.

12. Cala Marmols

Also known as ‘marble bay’, this small cove is one of the most incredible on the island thanks to the clarity of its waters.

You can enjoy one of the most beautiful coves in Majorca just a few kilometres away from Colonia de Sant Jordi. However, it requires an excursion of about an hour and a half, which few dare to tackle. Cala Marmols is one of the most isolated coves on the island – so if you’re looking for privacy, this is the beach for you.

Type of beach: Sand and rocks
Access: Difficult, 1 hour 30 minute excursion
